Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate is one of the largest integrated cocoa trading and processing companies in the world. Its scope ranges from buying from farmers in growing countries to manufacturing of industrial chocolate. The Cocoa Trading & Sourcing desk – based in Schiphol, The Netherlands – manages the majority of its cocoa sourcing and trading. The Senior Cocoa Merchant will be an integrated member of this dynamic team and will focus on the sourcing of cocoa beans from the various production countries which includes account management of existing suppliers, development of new suppliers and involvement in cocoa hedging strategies.
Key Accountabilities

Manage Cargill’s cocoa sourcing book in some origins in West Africa/Latin America
Develop new cocoa sourcing origins
Grow sustainable and responsible sourcing network
Involvement in hedging activities
Involvement in optimizing the physical supply chain
Other activities including general trading & merchandizing activities and interaction with Supply and Demand department
Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff
Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of four years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
Master degree in (Business) Economics, Agronomics, Econometrics, Math, Physics, Finance)
Merchandising skills, preferably commodities (futures & physical), but also possible equities, forex, derivatives
Fluent English & French or Spanish speaker
Good understanding of financial and commodities markets
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work with financial management systems and software to optimize commercial processes
