We are currently seeking to recruit a Medical Scientist to join our team in our Histology Department at the Eurofins Pathology in Sandyford, Dublin 18.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist and an integral part of the department’s team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge. As a competent experienced medical scientist with a flexible approach to work, you will be required to rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with excellent histopathology skills and ability to work in a team to help continue the development of our company.


Job Description


Main Responsibilities:

  • To assist Eurofins in maintaining a high standard in medical testing.
  • Provide support to clients and colleagues to ensure a first-class service.
  • To maintain and enhance their professional knowledge and skills as required.
  • Work with colleagues to contribute towards the continuous improvement of the department.
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the mission and values of Eurofins.
  • Assist in the organisation of workload, prioritising tasks to ensure the effective running of the department.
  • Observe the strictest confidence when dealing with all aspects of patient and Company information

Specific Tasks:

  • Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
  • Be aware and compliant with of all the documentation related to your Department to include - Training record, SOP’s, Forms.
  • To help achieve short and long-range departmental goals & objectives.
  • To participate in method development and implementation of new techniques.
  • To advise of any equipment failures or problems encountered in the course of carrying out his/her duties.
  • Routine duties as required to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the completion of the daily work including work files.
  • Reagent preparation.
  • Assist in maintaining stock levels of reagents and consumables.
  • Sample preparation and analysis in accordance with SOP’s.
  • QC result data entry.
  • Maintenance of instrumentation.
  • Clean/disinfect working areas daily.
  • Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice.

Qualifications


Education

  • Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they are fully registered to practice as a Medical Scientist, by the state agency CORU, providing CORU Registration Number
  • Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Science

Experience

Typically 1 year in a similar role, but not mandatory (can be trained in-house post qualification)
